Maggi Sandwich For The Hungry Soul

My friends in hostels and PGs would relate to this. After all, Maggi and bread are the two staples available at any time...even if there's no other food in the house, there's Maggi to the rescue!

And for those hungry souls who get a midnight pang, they simply toast some bread and fill it with their favourite Maggi. I can't wait to try this funny combination.

But let me ask you..why stop at that? If you're really hungry, go ahead and add some cheese slices to this sandwich. Lettuce leaves make for a healthy excuse. But if you don't have iceberg or Romaine, add the freshness factor with the help of green capsicum (thinly sliced), shredded carrot, or even finely chopped onion or green peas. Use your imagination!

Noodle Mania Around The World

Be it Maggi, or any other brand, people love noodles around the world. If you're one of them, you'll enjoy these cute, funny noodle photos:

I've heard of noodle fans, but this person has taken the meaning too literally! I guess he is in a tearing rush to eat piping hot noodles.

Apparently, noodles inspire art too! Try making your own noodle art the next time around.

Now, you can have your noodles and eat them too!

This one is my favorite...A noodle doodle that replicates your photograph.. Like Sketch Artist, but with noodles. Win!

Harry Styles Does It In Style!

Please Note: The images on this particular post do not belong to me. I have found them on Google and shared them with fellow noodle-lovers for non-commercial purposes.

Hakka Maggi

Ok now this is a modified version of my Eggy Maggi because I have actually tried it and served it to my uncle, sister, mom. They loved it :)

You need:-
  • Sesame Oil (it goes really well with Chinese cooking. If you don't have it, use Olive Oil)
  • Chilli Sauce, Chilli Flakes
  • Dark Soy Sauce - 1 tsp
  • Tomato Sauce - 1 tsp
  • 2 cloves of garlic - mashed & finely chopped
  • Onion - cut lengthwise
  • Spring Onions - finely chop the green part
  • Carrot - cut lengthwise
  • Capsicum - cut lengthwise
  • 2 eggs - remove most of the yolk, keep some, beat it up well
  • 1 packet of Maggi noodles
How!

  • Heat oil in the pan, add garlic
  • Add the onions, don't wait for them to get golden-brown before you...
  • Add the Carrot & Capsicum
  • Now you must make a little cavity in the middle of the veggies (trust me!), add more oil, dump in the beaten eggs and stir continously till the egg cooks and forms "bhurji"
  • Mix in the chilli flakes, salt, soy sauce, chilli sauce, tomato sauce
  • Stir stir stir
  • But hey! Don't overcook... Let the veggies remain slightly crunchy!
  • Simultaneously, cook the Maggi noodles as per the usual procedure
  • When the noodles are almost-cooked, add in your Veggie mixture
  • Stir stir stir
  • Cover with a lid, let it set and self-cook for a while
cheers! tell me how it was

Maggi Gets the Moolah!

A regular stubby 'chota bottle' of Limca is for MRP Rs.6 /- But most shopkeepers sell it Rs.10. Why? Because any shop or restaurant can claim a surcharge on any product if it is combined with a special service, in this case, the storage and refrigeration.
Keeping this in mind, I was ready to shell out a few extra bucks when I called for Maggi in my office canteen (imagine the excitement in my head... yummylicious Maggi noodles at 4 pm!!!)
I frowned when I was charged Rs.15 for a plate. Not so bad, I thought, considering that a packet is sold for Rs.10 anyway and the canteen is charging extra for its 'microwaving service'. A few bites and slurps later I completely forgot about the surcharge. I would have paid a thousand bucks for that heavenly shit!

Today my colleague and best friend Sneha tells me that the canteen actually prepares only half a packet of Maggi per plate. Reality bites!!! They're selling Maggi worth Rs.5 and making 200% profit on it! And for what? The goddamn microwaving? Or the creative presentation??? (note the sarcasm). I wonder how anybody can misuse such an honest product and cheat those who've been enjoying it since childhood. Shame on you, canteen!

***
That brings me to another point. Mocha Mojo, a famous cafe in Bandra sells Maggi Noodles (under its rightful brand name) in various flavours. E.g. BBQ Maggi comes with BBQ sauce, american corn, tofu and mushrooms - delicious, but definitely overpriced @Rs.125. Read my full review here - burrp! Mumbai

I'm not going to let commercialization taint my love for Maggi. I've decided to have Maggi in it's purest form, just the way mom used to make it with hot water and the Tastemaker... yummy!!!
